Dressmaking ✂

I've had a lot of hobbies in my time and never stick to them.  I decided to sign up for a dressmaking class several years ago and started making a dress, however, I never stuck with it so I put my sewing machine in the loft and forgot about it, until one day I decided I wanted to make my daughter a patchwork quilt that she could keep for a long time.  I got my machine from the loft, dusted it off and now dressmaking & quilting is a hobby I've completely fallen in love with! 💗  It allows me to be creative and make fun things which is a nice way to do something for yourself when you're a mother.

I'm still very much a beginner and learning every day but I wanted to share with you a couple of things I've made so far and my current project I'm working on...

Bralette 👙

My first project was a bralette! I used black lace fabric and a soft jersey black fabric underneath with an elastic for the band and black satin ribbon to finish off the cups!  It's not perfect by any means and I'll need to make a few more to perfect this one but I'm happy with my finished bralette and more importantly, it actually fits me! #winning

Bralette in process and the finished product!

Infinity Scarf

My second project I went for something quick and easy!

I decided to have a go at using plain fabric I had in the house already as a practice run before I used my good fabric! 👍

To finish it off I added my cute garment label and here it is!

Patchwork Quilt

My current project is a patchwork quilt for my daughter!  I'm using a fat quarter bundle and have cut them into approx. 10 x 10 inch squares.  I'll be using a plain pink cotton fabric for the backing and wadding for inside.  I'll use bias tape to finish to the edges off nicely.  I ordered from Amazon iron on alphabet initials so that I can spell her name!

I'm so excited to see how it turns out! I'll upload the finished quilt once I have completed it so stay tuned!
