Make-Up πŸ’‹

πŸ’› Lets talk about make-up....

I love, love, love make-up and probably spend too much money on beauty products.  LOL only joking, that's ridiculous, right?

Anyway I wanted to share with you guys what make-up products I've found that work best for me over the years and share some photos!

My skin is fair, prone to blemishes and sometimes becomes quite oily.  My hair used to be brunette until recently so you will see how the make-up looks on dark and fair hair.

πŸ’‹ I use an overnight mask by Clinique (Moisture Surge Overnight Mask).  This mask is great for my skin, I find that when I wake in the morning that my skin looks healthier with a nice glow to it.  Definitely a must have for me as I don't sleep well!

πŸ’‹ To prime my skin I use Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion to moisturize my face followed by MAC Strobe Cream in Peachlite to highlight my cheekbones, nose, between my brows, chin and I like to dab a bit on my cupids bow (middle part of your upper lip directly under your nose).  πŸ’› MAC Strobe Cream is amazing!

πŸ’‹ For my eyes I tend to stick to Urban Decay Naked Palettes or MAC eyeshadows.  I don't know what I did before NAKED palettes came into my life, they are the best eyeshadows I've ever tried as they stay on most of the day and the colours are gorgeous!  For a more dramatic eye effect I use Urban Decay Moondust palette for dark sparkly eyes.

Left to right - Urban Decay Naked Palettes 1, 2 & 3 and Moondust palette.
MAC Strobe Cream, Petal Power Blush, MAC Soft & Gentle, MAC Soft Frost, Urban Decay Naked Illuminated, NYX Chiffon Blush.
Clinique Up-Lighting, NYX Born To Glow liquid illuminator, Benefit High Beam.

πŸ’‹ For the inner corner of my eyes I find that using a gold eyeshadow makes my blue eyes "pop", Urban Decay Half Baked eye shadow is perfect for this if I'm keeping my eyes quite neutral / brown or if I'm doing a colour like pink or purple I'll add a light shade for my inner corner.  I use NYX eye shadow base to prep my eyes then I tend to use a light eyeshadow on my lid first of all then I'll blend a darker shadow to the crease and outer v to give that smokey effect.

πŸ’‹ For my lashline I could never perfect the liquid eyeliner! I've found that what works for me is to use an eyeliner pencil (I love Bouriois Liner Stylo in ultra black) first of all then use L'OrΓ©al Super Liner So Couture in intense black on top of the pencil and add a nice little flick at the outer part and finish my eyes off with mascara.  I currently use L'OrΓ©al Volume Million Lashes So couture.  When this runs out I'm going to give Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara a go!

πŸ’‹ Finding the right foundation took me years!  I'm fairly certain I spent the most part of my twenties with an orange face and white neck as I wanted to have that nice tan sun-kissed look on my face.  Unfortunately I didn't realise at that point that buying foundation in darker shades was not the right thing to do! This all changed when I visited Clinique and they matched my skin to Clinique anti-blemish solutions in shade 01 fresh alabaster, the idea is to have your foundation the same colour as your skin and if you want the sun-kiss look then I recommend Clinique moisture surge CC cream in light shade (if you're pale like me) or a fairly new product by Clinique called sun-kissed face gelee in shade 01 universal glow.  I find that the face gelee is fine if I use a little bit but too much and my face no longer matches my neck!  πŸ’› Clinique moisture surge CC cream is incredible, it builds up a colour but it still matches your neck, result.  Another product I use is Clinique anti-blemish BB Cream in light shade.

πŸ’‹ I find that setting your foundation with translucent pressed powder helps stop some of the shine that liquid foundations bring.  I use a really cheap one by MUA, think it cost me £1.

πŸ’‹ Dark circles and blemishes are my worst enemy, especially as I get older.  I love using Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer and I wouldn't say it covers my dark circles completely but I've yet to find a product that does!  IF ANYONE KNOWS, PLEASE SHARE!  However, this product is good and it's definitely one of my must have products in my make-up bag.

πŸ’‹ For my cheeks I tend to stick to pink or brown, sometimes I use both! A few months ago I bought MAC Petal Power Mineralize Blush and it's amazing! πŸ’›  It's a light pink that shimmers gold in the light.  I like to use NYX Baked Blush in shade chiffon to highlight just at the bottom of my cheek bones from my ears down towards my chin (stopping at the end of my cheekbone).

πŸ’‹ Highlighting, who doesn't love highlighting?  It's so much fun!  Sometimes I'll go wild and use a bit more MAC Strobe cream on my cheeks then I like to add some NYX Born to Glow liquid highlighter.  I then move on to powdered highlighters, my current fav's are MAC Soft & Gentle mineralize skinfinish, this goes perfect with MAC Petal Power Blush.  If my eyes are purple I'll use my latest MAC purchase, soft frost extra dimension skinfinish.  It's a beautiful highlighter with a lilac shimmer.

πŸ’‹ Lips πŸ’‹ my favourite part!  I have so many favourite lip products but right now my go to colour is purple!  You would think that it would look ridiculous but it works! MAC lipstick in up the amp shade, along with MAC magenta lip pencil works perfect for me whether I have dark or light hair.  I add a dab of MAC soft & gentle to my cupids bow and bottom lip in the middle.

πŸ’‹ To finish off I spray Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
